We all know the ballroom of Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa, but this wedding celebration was different. Held at Larkhill Mansion, Hongyi and Chloe were going to strip down traditional rituals and cultural clichés of the average Singaporean wedding banquet and have a backyard-style wedding. I was delighted to hear that there was no program rundown; just food, booze and love in abundance. The people they love and whom they are loved by, gathered that night and truly celebrated the couple. Everyone got a chance to mingle with the couple. There was no fuss nor a dull moment, only laughter and cheer all around. (if you are planning to get married this way, get in touch!)

Hongyi – chill, charming and humorous. Chloe – thoughtful, understanding and meticulous. Quite the perfect match, I would say. Over numerous lunch breaks that they shared, their relationship deepened and soon, they became best friends. It can be said that their romance was sparked over a sport that they picked up together – snowboarding. It was after a trip they took to Zurich, that their relationship blossomed. What a blessing it is to be married to your best friend, isn’t it?

Chloe’s bridesmaids wanted to help her with the wedding planning and asked her to choose a dress that she would like, and said that they would handle the rest. Some time later, the bridesmaids got her into a room, made her close her eyes and put her in a dress. Expecting that it would be the evening gown that she had selected, she opened her eyes, and was surprised. “Why does it look so different from the picture,” she exclaimed. The truth is, the bridesmaids had her dress specially-made and then hand-stitched the individual gemstones on. A heartwarming gesture that had Chloe in tears – who wouldn’t be?
